چکیده

The total incidence of coronary artery spasm during coronary angiography has been reported to be between 0.26% and 0.93%. The rarity of this phenomenon has been invoked to minimize its clinical significance. Review of a one-year experience in our catheterization laboratory showed that coronary spasm occurred in eight of 274 coronary angiograms (2.93%). In three instances, spasm could not be ascribed to catheter tip irrigation, and was considered to be spontaneous. Since multiple factors during coronary arteriography might inhibit the occurrence of coronary spasm, it is believed that the incidence of spontaneous spasm may be higher than can be documented during angiography. Coronary spasm may have important clinical significance in various chest pain syndromes and greater methodical attention should be directed toward this phenomenon.

Clinical Implications of Congenital Absence of Circumflex Coronary Artery

Introduction: Coronary artery anomalies are rare clinical entities reported in 0.6% to 5.6% of diagnostic coronary angiographies. Anomalous origins of coronary arteries from distal segments are rarely reported. Presented herein is a coronary anomaly in which the circumflex artery (CX) originated as a continuation of the posterolateral branch of the right coronary artery (RCA) w...

Coronary Artery Spasm During Dobutamine Stress Echocardiography: A Case Report

Dobutamine stress echocardiography (DSE) has been widely used as a diagnostic and prognostic modality in the management of stress. DSE is associated with limited complications and adverse effects on the health of patients. In this case report, we described a 42-year-old female patient with dobutamine-induced coronary artery spasm with history of exertional dyspnea, which had deteriorated recent...

Clinical implications of provocation tests for coronary artery spasm: safety, arrhythmic complications, and prognostic impact: multicentre registry study of the Japanese Coronary Spasm Association.

AIMS Provocation tests of coronary artery spasm are useful for the diagnosis of vasospastic angina (VSA). However, these tests are thought to have a potential risk of arrhythmic complications, including ventricular tachycardia (VT), ventricular fibrillation (VF), and brady-arrhythmias. We aimed to elucidate the safety and the clinical implications of the spasm provocation tests in the nationwid...

Differential Incidence and Morphology of Spasm According to Coronary Arterial Location by Intracoronary Ergonovine Spasm Provocation Testing.

BACKGROUND We reported less provoked spasm in the left circumflex artery (LCX) by acetylcholine testing compared with the left anterior descending artery (LAD) and right coronary artery (RCA), so we investigated the clinical characteristics of provoked spasm in the LCX by ergonovine (ER) testing. Methods and Results:We retrospectively analyzed 1,185 consecutive cases of intracoronary ER testing ...
